The answer is no. Not all Siamese cats respond to catnip the same way. Some will go absolute bonkers over it and you may have to pull them away from it, after you have had a fill of laughs that is of course, some will pleasantly enjoy it before showing their tail to it and there will be some who will smell it and look at you with a stare that says, so what am I suppose to do with it, stupid.

So, no not all Siamese cats will respond to it the same way.

And truth be told, the response towards catnip really isn’t a factor of cat breed to be honest. Jury is still out on whether the response to catnip is dependent on cat breed or not.

There are certain scientific studies that say, and I quote, ” The heredity of the response has been shown to be an autosomal dominant trait“, but there hasn’t been any correlation with breed or colors.

What can be said with a certain degree of certainty is that it really depends on your particular cat.

If she responds to it, she responds to it, if she doesn’t, she doesn’t.

It is also entirely possible that her immediate sibling may go all crazy with inexplicable bliss of ecstasy, while your cat observes in silent judgement.

The secretion of this particular oil activates pleasure centres in a cat’s brain as a result of which they expose what we regard as their silly side.

More specifically, what nepetalactone does is, it activates the neural cells and binds them with a function that stimulates the sensory neurons.

Additionally, aside from generating what we may label as narcotic effect, catnip can also induce behavior patterns that seem very similar to feline mating.

So that is the reason why Siamese cats get high as all heavens on catnip.

While its fun to see cats behaving the way they do on catnip, you will be forgiven to think whether catnip is safe for them.

And therefore, it’s very important to let you know this in as much clarity as I can.

Catnip isn’t addictive and is not harmful for cats.

But it is important to maintain the general sense that everything is good in moderation. Just because it isn’t harmful doesn’t mean that is a license to freely through catnip around every chance that you get.
